God desires to reestablish His peace in your life, even when the path ahead seems anything but peaceful. This profound truth was evident in the life of Joshua, who had once received a powerful, divine promise: "Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest." Yet, Joshua’s recent days had been a roller coaster of emotions, from the divine summit of victory to the crushing depths of defeat, snared by sin and shamed. He was gripped by fear, realizing that only God could give him the true peace he so desperately needed.

Joshua found himself "dismayed," a word that signifies being beaten down or broken by confusion and fear. He had been blindsided by sin and his own foolishness, feeling utterly crushed before the Lord. Even after sin had been dealt with, his spirit remained unrecovered. In this tender state, God lovingly called to His child, inviting him to come back, draw near, and be assured that everything was all right. This comforting message echoes the words of Isaiah: "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness." Our God is tender in both His ways and His words.

Just as Adam and Eve lost their peace and hid from God after their fall, we, too, have often fallen and lost our inner peace. God came to Adam and Eve to reestablish peace, and He desires to do the same for us. The only way genuine peace can ever be established in our hearts is through the singular sacrifice God provided some 2,000 years ago on Calvary. God wants to reestablish His peace in your heart, a peace that only He can give.
