The One who created the vast galaxies down to the intricate details of the lily—this God who created every living being also knows the very number of hairs on your head. Our God cares about the details.

In Matthew chapter 10, Jesus is telling His new disciples of all the peril that they are getting ready to face as His followers. Worry sets on their faces, wondering if they will ever see their families and homes again. And on top of that, they might even lose their lives. This didn’t sound like a joyride through the countryside.

But as Jesus explains the trial they are about to walk into, He also tells them to fear not. (Aren’t you thankful He takes time to assuage our fears?) He reminds them that “. . . the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows” (Matthew 10:30-31).

Thomas might have looked over at John and asked, “Do you really think He knows us down to that detail?” I can hear Peter pipe up and say, “He must truly care about us to know us down to the number of hairs on head.”

Just as Jesus knew His disciples down to their most intimate details, He knows the details of your life, your experiences, your burdens, your struggles. He is a God of the details. And your details have not gone unnoticed.

Sometimes we think that just because God is not moving on our timeline, He is not working at all. Sometimes, if we’re honest, we feel forgotten. But if He sees the sparrow that falls, if He sends rain to the lilies, how much more does He see you?

If you are struggling with knowing whether or not God sees you in your

situation, whatever that may be, I pray you are reminded that you are

of greater value to the Master than the sparrows. Your details have not

been ignored. You have not been forgotten. He sees. He knows.

He works in ways we cannot always see.
