I read a short story the other day by John Mason that said:Sometime ago, I was eating at a Mexican fast-food restaurant. As I stood in line for service, I noticed in front of me an elderly lady who looked like she might have been homeless. I concluded this because she was carrying a grocery bag filled to the top with what seemed like all of her possessions in the world. When it was her turn to order, she asked for a drink of water and one taco.I couldn’t help but observe her and be moved with compassion for her. Shortly after I began my meal, I walked over to her and asked if I could buy her some more food to eat. She looked at me and angrily said, “Who are you?” “Just a guy who wants to help”, I responded.  She ignored me, so I sat back down in my booth. We both finished our meals and got up to leave at about the same time. As she began to walk out of the restaurant, I followed her because I felt led to give her some money. In the parking lot, I approached her and offered her some cash. Her only response was, “stop bothering me!” Then she stormed off. When I read this, I realized that’s the way we are with God sometimes. A lot of times, we have the false assumption that God is against us and is just waiting to rain judgment down on us. Romans 8:31 says, “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” God stands with open arms wanting to help us and wanting to be a friend to us. “A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.” –Proverbs 18:21John 3:17 tells us, “For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.” Today, God wants to help us but it is up to us to allow Him to. If you want to walk through life alone, face each day without help, and go through the storms of this life without Him, then that is your choice, BUT God is willing to help IF we will allow Him to. We need to always remember, God is not our problem, He is our answer!
