Romans 8:28 - And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Have you ever wondered how things will turn out in the mess you are in? Maybe you believe you are right in the center of God’s will, but then get the breath knocked out of you. Or maybe you are struggling to serve due to losses, anxiety, infertility, depression, sickness, illness, or other things?
As I look back on things the Lord has brought me through, I stand in amazement at how He has let me see some of those darkest times truly turned into good. I love it when He allows us those glimpses!
Several years ago, we lost one baby through ectopic pregnancy and another through a miscarriage. Our plan was to have those babies to make our family complete. However, God had a different plan. He already knew that there would be three girls who were going to make our family complete through adoption. His plan was perfect! If it had been our plan, we would not have the six beautiful girls we have today.
It took losses to have the gains! It took God allowing us to go through tragedy to have triumph. He truly works “all things” together for good! Many times, we do not understand it at the time, but He does.
2024 proved to be one of the hardest times in my life—from my husband having a heart attack and open heart surgery just days before our daughter’s scheduled wedding, unexpected losses of my aunt and father, to many more life changing events. But through every situation, I am reminded of God’s promise that I can “know” that “all things” (not some things), work together for good to them that “love God.” That’s our part! We must love God in order to claim this promise. Do you love God even when things are all to pieces?
It is easy to love and serve God when things are going well. But what about when the breath gets knocked out of us and things are a mess? May each of us be challenged to love God no matter what comes our way, so we can firmly hold His promise, knowing that “all things” work together for good.
