“Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.” Proverbs 1:23

Our lives are made of choices; but what we must remember is that with every choice we make, there is always a consequence that follows. God makes the promise to us, here in Proverbs,  that He will pour His spirit out on us and will make known to us His words. However, there is a prerequisite to that. God says we must turn at His reproof. The word reproof means correction or rebuke.

There are times when we choose to do wrong, and God rebukes or corrects us. I have heard it said this way, and I agree, “God doesn't speak with an audible voice, but it is louder than that.” You know those times when you say the wrong thing or act the wrong way, and the conviction of the Holy Spirit makes you go back and apologize? Why? Because God reproved you. If you are like me, there are times you choose not to listen to His reproof, and the fellowship between you and God is broken. Why? Because you didn't “turn” at His reproof.

In closing, God makes us a promise. If we choose to turn, He will pour His Spirit out on us and He will make known His words to us. That, my friend, is a consequence that I can live with, because there is nothing better than walking in fellowship with the Lord!
