"Be thankful for the things that you do have as opposed to thinking about the things that you don't have." --Ace McCloud

How much time do we spend thinking about what we want and what we don’t have? When we learn contentment, we will also learn thankfulness, for the two go hand-in-hand. This week, we set aside a day for Thanksgiving—a day to be thankful for what we have. I want to encourage you not to focus on what you don’t have this week, but instead take the time to be thankful for what you do have. Think of five different things you are thankful for and share them with someone else. Here is mine:

  1. Salvation…I am so thankful that God came into my heart as a 16-year-old young man.

  1. Health…It was once said that your health is like water – you never miss it until it’s gone.

  1. Parents…Both of my parents are still alive. They raised me in church and taught me right from wrong. They also taught me a great deal about life in general and how to achieve success.

  1. Wife…I am so thankful that I have a wonderful wife of 26 years who has stayed by my side through thick and thin.

  1. Children…I have three precious girls who are healthy and a great son-in-law.

O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. -Psalms 107:1
