“Rising from the Fall”

Part 3: New Beginnings and Fulfilling Your Destiny

Even when we feel forgotten or disqualified, God has the remarkable ability to provide new beginnings and continue His work in our lives. Our past failures do not have to paralyze our present or our future. God can find you even in the desert and give you a fresh start.

Consider Moses, who committed a terrible act by killing an Egyptian and subsequently fled into the wilderness, living in obscurity for 40 years. He might have felt forgotten, his potential lost in the sands of the desert. But at the burning bush, God recommissioned him, declaring, “Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh”. From a forgotten exile, Moses became the great deliverer of Israel. This powerful example shows that God can find you in the desert and give you a new beginning.

Another inspiring example is Mark, who abandoned a missionary journey, causing Paul to initially refuse to take him on another. Others may have written him off, seeing his previous departure as a sign of unreliability. Yet, God continued to work in his life, leading Paul to eventually change his view, writing later, “Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry”. Mark went on to write the Gospel of Mark, a testament to God's restorative power. Others may write you off, but God can write you back in.

These stories remind us powerfully that failure is never final with God. Jonah received another chance to preach, Peter another chance to lead, David another chance to worship, Moses another chance to serve, and Mark another chance to minister. As Philippians 1:6 declares, "Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” If you have failed, do not quit. Do not stay down. Repent, rise up, and move forward, for God is the God of second chances and still has a plan for your life.
