Success

“You have no right to anything you have not pursued.

For the proof of desire is in the pursuit.” --Mike Murdock

We should never give up on what we know we should do. Overnight success usually takes around ten years.  The “person of the hour” spent many days and nights getting to that position. One gentleman said it this way, “my overnight success was the longest night of my life.”

The secret to success is to start from scratch and keep on scratching. In the book, “The Sower’s Seeds”, Joel Weldon talks about the Moso, a bamboo plant that grows in China. “After a Moso is planted, no visible growth occurs for up to five years, even under ideal conditions!  Then, as if by magic, it suddenly begins growing at the rate of nearly two and a half feet per day, reaching a full height of ninety feet within six weeks!  But, it’s not magic.  The Moso’s rapid growth is due to the miles of roots it develops during those first five years – “five years of getting ready.”  Did this plant really grow ninety feet in six weeks or did it take five years?  Of course, the answer is five years.  If at any point in those five years the seed would have been without water or the proper fertilizer, it would have died.

You see, people really do not fail – they just simply give up too early.  When faithfulness is most difficult, it is most necessary.  In trying times, it is no time to quit trying.  “Enduring” is a military term which means “to hold up courageously under fire”.  Remember, “the proof of desire is in the pursuit.”  Your persistence is proof that you have not been defeated.  No one can rob from your commitment – only you can lose it.

Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established. --Proverbs 16:3
