This past week I came across this statement as I was reading, “The sky is not the limit.” It caught my attention because I have always been taught that the sky's the limit. While this phrase is often used to encourage people to pursue big dreams, it still sets a limit on what we can accomplish. But no person or thing, not even the sky, can limit you unless you allow it to. When the children of Israel went to enter Cannan land, it wasn't the nine-foot-tall giants that kept them out; it was their attitudes. Although God had already promised them the land, they allowed other people and circumstances to influence their mindset and limit what they could do. Eli Whitney was laughed at when he showed his cotton gin. Edison had to install his electric light, free of charge, in an office building before anyone would even look at it. The first sewing machine was smashed to pieces by a Boston mob. People scoffed at the idea of railroads because they feared traveling thirty miles per hour would stop the circulation of blood. Morse had to plead before ten Congresses before they would even look at his telegraph. Yet, for all these men, the sky was not the limit.

Beware of those who stand aloof

And greet each venture with reproof.

The world would stop if things were run

By men who say “It can’t be done.” -Anonymous

So many people allow circumstances from their past to keep them from walking into the future. Remember, God loved you enough to allow His Son to die in your place. God has forgiven you for your past, so you can forgive yourself and decide you’re moving into the future. When it comes to what God can do with our lives, there is no limit!! David, as a teenager, slew Goliath. Moses took a rod and parted the Red Sea. Caleb, at 85 years old, claimed a mountain. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego lived through the fiery furnace and stood unharmed as a testimony to the power of God.I leave you with this verse… “But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26The sky isn't the limit!
